French Toast

During weekends, hubby always prepares breakfast fo us. Its either, pan cakes, oatmeal or french toast. He made us french toast yesterday morning. Preparing french toast is easy. All you need is bread, egg, cinnamon and butter, of course syrup when its done as toppings. Here's a recipe from southernfood.about.com.
This French toast recipe cuts back on fat by using only 1 whole egg and 2 egg whites. Ingredients: 1 egg 2 egg whites 1/4 cup milk 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon dash nutmeg 8 slices French bread, sliced on diagonal Preparation: In a shallow bowl, whisk egg and egg white until foamy. Whisk in milk, vanilla, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Have warming drawer heated or heat oven to 200°. Heat butter in heavy skillet over medium-low heat. Dip 4 slices of bread in the egg mixture, turning to coat thoroughly. Let excess drip back into bowl. Place coated bread slices in hot skillet. Cook, turning, until both sides are nicely browned, about 2 minutes each side. Transfer to a warm plate and keep warm in oven. Repeat with remaining bread and egg mixture. To serve, sprinkle with cinnamon sugar, if desired. Serve with maple syrup

spaghetti...

When I first came to the States, I tried to discover what my father in law's favorite foods are. He love food that are sweets and snacks like that. I prepared him a spaghetti one time but it was Filipino style, you know the one with hotdog and a lil' bit of sugar in it. I was surprised that he liked it and since then whenever I prepare spaghetti, I do it Filipino style. He told me that the hotdog actually compliments the touch of sweetness on the sauce. He also love eating my lasagna..
My husband like the way I prepare it too. Before leaving home yesterday morning, he told me that if I decided to cook something, he would love to have some spaghetti, so that's what me and my kids prepared. My husband can eat a lot of spaghetti hehehe..When we moved out from his house, I always call him to come over to our house every time I cook spaghetti or lasagna. Now that we are here, he told me that he is missing my spaghetti hehehe... I am so thankful that my Filipina close friend visits him once in a while and brings him some spaghetti too.. Thanks Manay Raquel!

In two years..

I was very very happy that I finally decided to wean my son. It sure gave me sore breasts but it's okay because I can see the advantage on my son. He has a very good appetite now compared when he was still nursing. And for the very fist time, He slept through the night last night, yohoooo... Hopefully, he'll continue that so I can sleep continuously too.

menudo for lunch

It's been a while since I made menudo that's why when I asked my husband if what does he want for lunch, he said "menudo" so that's what me and my daughter cooked today. I am happy that he chose menudo because I like it more than caldereta. He said that when he was stationed in the Philippines years ago, he's favorite food are caldereta, menudo and giniling... Good thing I have learned how to make them... at least in my own way of cooking hehehe.. I forgot to take a snapshot of the finish product hehehe..

messy

Isn't it amazing that even if our children's face are messy, they still look beautiful in the eyes of us, parents? The smile and funny faces that they make sure does make a magic to uplift our spirit all the time. Turns our tiring day into a relaxing and enjoyable one once we see their smiles and hear their laughs and giggles. Being a parent is the great gift that God bestowed to us adults.

sleepless night

We had a rough time the night before last night because our son did not sleep well. He kept us all night, he was trying to make me nurse him again but I don't want to stop what I started. We been through this twice and we didn't succeed and this time I want to succeed weaning him... The funny thing is, I miss our bonding huwahhhhhhhhhh. He refused to take nap yesterday, he was crying for meme. I am glad that last night was good, he only woke up once and I just massage his back and he went back to sleep.

What do I Love about My HUSBAND!

I been tagged by Umma, Madz, and Beth. I'm sorry ladies for posting this so late, I been busy with my new project here at home (weaning my son hehehe). This is a timing tag for my luvvyduvvyhubby because he will be celebrating the biggest milestone of his life, the beginning of his LIFE.... Yep, he will be 40 years young next month!
First and foremost I love JOHN because he is what he is. He is a great husband to me and great Dad to our children. He love playing with our kids, tells them stories, read them books and take care of them when I'm away.
I love him because he understand my obligation to my family. He knows the Filipino traditions and cultures well, so helping my family in the Philippines financially is never a problem to him. Even if I told him that he is not oblige to support them, he still insist that we send them.I love him because he is goofy, silly and funny. Laughter is what spice up our relationship from the very beginning. There is never a dull moment with him, which makes our life together interesting and joyful all the time.I love him because he understand the full meaning of a family. We are always his priority among everything else. He always set aside what he wants for the sake of his love to us.

I love him because he is humble and good communicator. When I am mad, I don't talk but John wouldn't let the day pass by without us being reconciled. Even on times that I am the one on the wrong side, he is the one saying sorry.

Thank you for making me marry you, for understanding my imperfections and for putting up with my attitude sometimes. I love you!

I would love to pass this tag to Ate Weng, Clarissa, Anne, Malou and Faye.

Year of the Ox

Kung Hei Fat Choi... Happy Chinese New Year everyone! I was reading the yahoo news today and I saw the astrology that they released for this year. 2009 is the Year of the OX so it might be good or bad for me coz I was born in the year of the OX. But anyhow, here is the Overview about the OX. The rating for the Ox is 52% (3 favorable 5 neutral and 4 unfavorable months) Oh no, I'm scared of the unfavorable months hehehe..

The Ox can do well this year through steady progress. There may be a number of experiences that will provide great joy for the Ox. One area, in particular, is the Ox's personal life. You may see an addition to the family. You will be surrounded by those who care. Look for the early summer months to attend many social occasions, providing many new faces in your social circle. One area of focus is to be open to the advice of others, as you tend to keep your issues to yourself. Overall, your own year can be one that you will look back on with pride and a genuine sense of achievement.
Career In 2009, the Oxen will be given many opportunities to further your plans and goals, as well as consolidate your position. Steady progress is the position where the Ox is most comfortable and that is where you will find yourself this year. You will also have a chance to impress and gain support from those around you. This is a good year to enhance your skills and add to your repertoire with added training or study. You will be satisfied in knowing that anything you do this year will repay you in this year and the years to come. The months of May, late August and September may mark a change in your career. Relationships 2009 will be a year of personal happiness. For the single Ox, there may be a chance to engage in new and meaningful friendships, romance, and possibly even marriage. Others will take comfort in their domestic and social lives. Being an Ox year, this is one that will provide enjoyment for you as long as you allow it. Beware of your strong will and do not allow any minor disagreements to escalate and put a damper on a fine year. May is a month that will highly favor a chance meeting or a heightened level in a relationship. Health Health matters don't seem to be too much of a concern for the Ox this year, as you are good at implementing some sort of physical activity into your routine. The Ox's discipline does well to carry over into your health. It never hurts to find ways to improve in this area, so don't discount anything that will improve the quality of your life. Even though there may not be any large issues, stress can be a surmounting factor to be aware. Wealth The Ox could enjoy an improvement financially, but you may face a number of large expenses over the year. To maneuver your budget through the year of the Ox, exercise care and sensible spending. It would be wise to seek professional advice when it comes to any speculative ventures or risky investments that create some sense of doubt.

Do you wanna find out yours?

halo halo

My husband went to Daego the other day and he bought us some halo halo mix from the Commissary. When Rylie saw it yesterday, she let me make her some. My husband crushed ice from our blender and I just put the whole jar of the halo halo mix in a bowl with the ice and add milk in it and tadah, we had a Filipino dessert hehehe. Too bad the picture that I took can't be downloaded because our digicam acted up again so I had to reformat it which means erasing everything in it.. sigh... sayang! But i found this picture in Google, thanks Mr. G.

weaning.. engorgement... pain

Honestly, I am in agony right now because of engorgement. I started weaning my son today which, of course, he did not approve of. He was so mad and cranky today that I really didn't let him nurse. Right now I have a solid rock breast, I've tried the cold compress and will try the warm compress again coz its getting painful. Any advice anyone? I feel bad for my son though, but I just want him to eat good instead of relying on nursing. I tried weaning him a couple of months ago but I did not succeed because I felt so bad seeing him cry. My technique this time is that I discourage him from nursing by putting a dub of vinegar on my nipple, after he tasted it, he didn't attempt to nurse till now... Well he tried, but I repeated what I did this morning hehehe..
This is his reaction today! (the photo was taken last year)

chugga chugga choo choo

John and the kids were having fun this morning playing the train game. My husband was saying "chugga chugga choo choo" and the kids were cracking out loud hahaha. Its so good when my husband is off because our kids love playing with him. One of the games that we all play and the kids love is the Ring Around the Rosey... I am not sure of the title of the song hahaha..

These boots....

When I saw these boots that my sister in law sent to our kids, I remember the song "These Boots Were Made for Walking" originally sung by Travis William in 1987 and was remake by Jessica Simpson, please watch the video below courtesy of spike.com.
Thanks Chris and Gail, the kids love it!

lots of goodies

We received a big box of goodies from my sister in law and the kids were so happy, they were screaming and yelling "Yey more Christmas presents!" Thank you so much Chris and Gail for all of these. EJ love his toy cars and the boots. Rylie is crazy about the DVDs you sent. She was Shouting for joy when she saw the Dora boots lol.. Here they are wearing the dress up hat hehehe.

fresh veggies and fruits

My daughter just got done eating slices of sweet bell pepper. She love eating it with blue cheese dressing and dip. I am glad that my son is starting to eat a little bit of fresh veggies and fruits too. My son refuse to eat any veggies before but now that he sees his sister eat fresh and cooked veggies, he start eating it too. Rylie also like eating fresh cucumber, green bell pepper and tomatoes. She also love canned black olives.

sayonara

Since we are going to the Philippines in a couple of months, I have to start getting ready of the things that we have to take on our upcoming travel. Having said that I canceled my tutorial to my student, next week will be our last session. Thanks Jason for being with us, hope you will continue your English lesson with another teacher. We're going to miss you Jason, especially EJ who wants to hang out with you all the time. It's funny because EJ was dancing in front of my student last night lol.

the future artist

Rylie's favorite tools/objects are scissors, glue, paper and coloring pens and crayons. One time I saw some of her hair on the floor, when I asked her she said that she ran out of paper so she cut her hair, aint that something hehehe. But anyhow, she was busy doing her artwork that according to her, she will send it to her Pap.

Art Work for the Day

I heard my son's signature sound when he is very busy doing something that he really like. So I immediately check and sure enough he was making an art work in the wall wahhhhhhhh... He found a piece of red crayon from his sister's art and crafts drawer so he started scribbling it on the wall. My husband is gonna be so much happy with this hahaha, he just got done cleaning with the other parts of the wall in the house. Oh well, part of having fun isn't it?
EJ was so proud when I approach him of what he did lol...So there you go folks, the art work for the day!

Letting GO!

Okay, I made it official. I gave up my part time job just so I could have full time with my family and of course more time with blogging as well lol. I filed my resignation without regret because I know that in the long run, it will benefit my family especially our children. I can have as many jobs as I want but the time that I spend with my children is more precious than having an extra income. Besides I am not happy with what I am doing in that job so letting go is the best thing that I did.

swarovski flowers

My husband sent me this as his first valentine gift. Instead of sending fresh flowers, he sent me this swarovski roses. I can't get a good picture though because of the reflection.. I appreciate things like this more than a fresh flower, do you know why? Because I can keep this flower till I die while fresh flowers only last for so many days right. But of course I like recieving fresh flowers too hahaha... Conflict of interest lol...
Good night everyone!

Tocino

I cooked a pack of pork tocino this morning and it was sooooooooo good... I prefer tocino more than longanisa because I don't like the salty taste in the latter hehehe. John like tocino too but he prefer longanisa more than the other. We compliment each other when it comes to things. We're kind of Ying and Yang hehehe.. That is why, I don't have any problem with him with things.

barbie collection and more

These are Rylie's collection of barbies and dolls. Her favorite one is the cadaver doll which she always put beside her before she sleep. She enjoys dressing them up, she even gives them bath at the tub sometimes hehehe. These are the toys that she plays with whenever she wants to take a nap in the afternoon. Having them in her bed makes her feel sleepy.

BBQ Chicken

We went and bought some fried chicken tonight at BBQ Chicken outside the base and while waiting for our order we took some pictures. We like the place because the ambiance is really nice and we also love the way the food is preapred and its taste. Plus the employees are friendly
