Remembering Our Veterans

This post has been  sitting in my draft folder  since August but I did not have the courage to post  it but since  Veteran's day is coming up, I am now publishing it.  After  my father-in-law died  in March,  we lost another  beloved veteran in our family.

We might not  be related by blood but he certainly was a huge part of my little family.  Don and his wife Ruth were there  for us especially my kids  ever since we bought our first home in Park Avenue.  Don died  of  brain cancer.  He was diagnosed earlier this year and passed away in August.  He was a great man, he was like a true  grandpa to my kids and a father to me.  We loved him dearly.  He was a Vietnam veteran
The Fancher's have always been there  celebrating especial events and milestones of our kids.  Halloween, Christmas, Birthdays, and  even on ordinary days, they were always around.  He was our  constant companion in our regular walks during the summer.  It was a  huge shocked to us because he  was the most active guy we knew around the neighborhood.  A very social man who was a friend to everybody.

We had so many great memories with him and his wife.  There are two families that we are so close with when we still live in Park Avenue, we were always  together every time, my kids have events or special occasion.  He taught my kids so many things like  doing handstand, climbing up on their  shed roof, eating edible  grass, biking, and  so on and so forth.  I can  write a book if I list everything but yes, he will be surely missed.

This was the last time we all got together. These were taken in January of this year. We hosted a little birthday celebration for our son at our new home.

The song below  is dedicated to all the men and women in uniform who are currently serving and for all of those who sacrificed a lot to serve our country.

This post is  dedicated to all  the veterans, my husband included, his late  Dad and Uncle (WW2 veterans), our late neighbor Don,  and to all who served.  Thank you for your services and your sacrifices.

Miracle

Our weekend was a busy one.  We visited my brother-in-law who has been battling with cancer since last Thanksgiving.  We were so surprised to learn that his doctor  has decided  to stop  his chemo treatment.  According to my BIL, the doctor told him that if the chemo will be continued, it will just make it worse and shorten his life to three months.  The doctor then told him to enjoy his remaining time of 6-9 months.

It's a devastating  revelation for all of us because  the doctor told us before that everything was  great after his surgery, that the remaining  cancer spots in his liver  can just be treated with chemo.  The doctor just  pulled out  that remaining HOPE we all have for my BIL.  My SIL made some calls and she was able to  contact American Cancer Society.  They have an appointment sometime this month and we are all hoping and praying that  there still hope and chance for my BIL to recover this battle.
The kids were so sad upon learning the news, they  both love Uncle Dave and the thought that  his days are  getting short makes them so sad.
My husband's  theory about it is that, maybe my BIL has maxed out his insurance already that they would no longer pay for any treatment.  We are praying for a MIRACLE to happen, we all hope that my BIL would still be given a chance  and get cured  by this new doctor that will examine him.
Please include my BIL in your prayer, thank you so much!

Cancer Battle

We visited my BIL the day after Father's day. We were suppose to visit him on Father's Day but his wife told us that he was so sick due to the last chemo that he received.  His battle with cancer is  still not done because even if the big amount of it was removed from his lungs, there still some that spreading  in his liver.  Since they can't do an operation, the doctors are just hoping that  it will be cured through chemotherapy treatment.
These photos were taken when  he  has still a long hair, after  a couple of chemo, his hair started to fall off so his wife decided to just shaved it off.  He is now bald.
My kids are very fond of Dave because just like my husband, he is also very good in dealing with children.
I hope and pray that the chemo treatment will cure the remaining cancer  in his body.

Thanks for dropping by folks!

Personalized Card and Flowers

Ms. Burrito made a personalized card for their Uncle Dave. We brought it when we visited him last Saturday at UPMC Pasavanth.  Remember the  pipe cleaners that we turned into flowers?  She decided to  give that to Uncle Dave instead of real flower.
We  encouraged Dad to go with us that day.  He did not want to go because it's a long drive  but then me and the kids persuaded him so he went. He thanked us for bringing him  as he was able to talk to Dave and learn for himself about  his condition.  It also made Dave very happy that day.  According to my brother-in-law, he will be released  sometime this week.  I hope that  the remaining cancer that invaded in his liver will be  cured through chemo.  Thank you all for your prayers!

Prayer Request

This is a sticky post, please scroll down for new postings.

My brother -in-law was recently diagnosed with a stomach cancer. I am not very particular of what kind is it,  but my SIL said it is a very rare form of cancer. I am asking your help to please pray for my BIL. He will have a surgery this coming Monday at UPMC.  We are all praying and hoping that it will be for the better.  The surgery will involve removing his stomach which means that he won't have one after the surgery. It is the only way to cut the tumor that is growing inside. I am not sure how he could normally function after the surgery but I do trust the surgeons.
Above was taken last Christmas, we did not know that time that he has the growing tumor in his stomach.  We feel like, we are running out of time so we make sure to visit him  oftentimes now.  My sister-in-law told me that she is mad and in denial to why this thing is happening to them.

Below was taken the other day.  We've visited him again and I was shocked to see him  very skinny already.  He lost a lot of weight already as he couldn't eat.
Please pray for him and for all the people who are sick and in need of the divine healing.  His Mom died of the same cancer, their Aunt died of cancer too a couple of years ago, we are hoping and praying that Dave will come through this battle.  Thank you for your prayers!
