Snakes

Photos were taken at the Pittsburgh Zoo.  Enjoy the different kinds of snakes.
Can you see the red snake at the back of that plant?
I wonder how snake could sleep curled up n top of those branches?
 Below is a spotted pyton.
He was moving a lot so this shot was a little blurry.
Just a shot of the tail.
Of all the critters, snake is the one I am scared of.  I had an experience of being chased by a snake  when I was still a kid.  My faher used to take care a  huge  rice field and he would take us every time  he works.  One time he asked me to  check the scare crow and I saw the top the rice plant's leaves  moving.  When I investigate, the snake  hisss at me and I  ran and yelled for help.  Luckily, Papa was nearby and he killed the snake with his machete.

  1. Nice shots, I like seeing snakes. I got a photo of one in my front yard a couple of years ago. But that doesn't mean I want to pick one up!

  2. Wow, if I had been chased by a snake, I wouldn't be taking pictures of them now. I've never been chased by one, but I still don't want to photograph them. LOL
Very brave of you (I know they were enclosed, but still a brave thing to do).

  5. I don't mind snakes so much, but then again I've never met one :O) Spiders give me the jitters, I wouldn't hurt one but I don't want to get too close to one either...

  7. The snakes on display at the zoo are all remarkable. The most venomous and poisonous of them all is the corral snake with red white and black stripes. Your experience of being chased by a snake in a rice field in the Philippines was very scary indeed. It could have been a dahong palay or ulupong- Philippine cobra one of the most poisonous snakes in the world. Luckily you were saved by your father who killed the snake with his bolo. You see, you were blessed and protected by the Lord even when you were just a child. Thanks for the post. God bless you all always.

  9. I'll have to show my daughter these photos later, she loves the snakes at our zoo and will be thrilled with these. Summer before last she got to pat Rosy the Boa Constrictor out on a zoo lawn, major high point in her life. ~Calico Contemplations
