When we were buying our window treatment years ago, we picked these set of maroon curtains and valances because it matched the color of our living room set. The problem is that, it makes the room look so dark. It's an elegant set but it really made the living room looks so gloomy.
When we relocated overseas, I bought these set of plain blue panels for our living room. That's what I used this year in our living room too. I put this up a couple of weeks ago and it really lighten up the room.

If we can save up this year, we will be getting a new living room set and the this old one will go to our basement.

That's what we used to do...use the good stuff until it was starting to become shabby and move it to the room where the kids could jump on it! I like the lighter look.
