Christmas For Payatas

I am so touched to know that there are organizations who are raising up some amount in order to give the children and other residents of Payatas, Philippines a chance to actually have a decent Christmas celebration. This act of kindness is dubbed as "Christmas For Payatas". I cried when I watched this video from youtube that I posted here. This is a charity appeal to all of you out there who are willing to help raise some money to make these children happy this holiday season. Please read the Press Release for more information and don't forget to watch the video. Press Release: The landfill in Payatas, The Philippines, is notoriously known the world over as Smokey Mountain. For over 35 years, the smoking dump site has grown to become a stark and heart-tugging reminder of the desperate onditions of humanity. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ On a daily basis, children pick through newly arrived garbage to collect material to sell. The earnings made by one child are not enough to even buy food for the day. Hence, entire families are forced to climb the mountain each day, hoping to earn enough to feed everyone. Children as young as four years old are forced to work in this daily struggle for survival. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ In response to the plight of these children, Totedaddy.com is working with Lighthouse Center For Children Foundation to bring a little cheer to the children this Christmas. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Totedaddy.com has kicked off with a cash sponsorship of USD 10,000 to enable the children to celebrate Christmas. FusionExcel International has also pitched in a USD 5,000 in cash sponsorship. The money raised will help fund the projects already in place, and help fund additional projects aimed at providing better housing, and a means of livelihood for the Payatas community. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ It is hoped that by creating better awareness to the plight of these children, more support can be garnered towards their betterment. Together we can bury poverty!

  1. Hello Chubskulit, we have seen on TV, in the papers about the people in Manila living near that mountain of garbage and earning their livehood collecting what can be sold.
For this, the government is to be blamed...and I don't know how the President or whoever can still enjoy their lifestyles when knowing such pictures of their country being shown on TV round the world.
And yes, it is shown here for aid to the children.

Really sad to see children, parents living this life.
Something is wrong for that to go on all the years...
No child should have to experience that life.

Good of you to bring this up, Rose.
    You keep well, Lee.

  6. The sad reality is, the majority of those garbage are from cans, platics, wrappers and many other stuffs from Philippine multinationsls and big companies.. they dont think about garbage: as long as they gained their profit, their soceital responsiblity is never an agenda in their business... well, it is not news to us all anyway. The rich live good in Philippines!
