Father's Day 2014

On Father's Day this year, we started our day with a hearty meal that I prepared for my  husband.  We planned on spending the day to the Zoo so we got up early and got ready.
A simple family photo before we took off.  My son is always  making faces, it frustrates me sometimes because we can't get a good family family  picture most of the times.  Anyway, before we head out to the zoo, we visited my father-in-law first.  We got him a  new flag and a new razor for gifts.
He was very happy to see both because he   needed a new flag as his old one is all shredded up.  The last time we put a new flag  on his flag pole  was years ago, when my brother's in law was still alive.
I love it when I see these two so  loving with each other because nowadays, they love to pester each other lol.
My FIL is a very patriotic man so even if his  eye sight is  slowly deteriorating, he is very proud to fly a flag in his front yard.
I love this photo  when my daughter gave Dad a hug!

And the last shot, a family photo.
I will be posting our  Father's Day adventure at the zoo real soon!

Inspiring a Safe and Healthier Day-to-day Lifestyle for the Ones We LOVE!

Did you know that June is National Safety Month? During this month, a heavy focus is placed on preventing slips, trips, and falls. Falls are the second leading cause of accidental death. This really hits home for me because we faced a recent experience with my 93-year-old father in law.

My father in law is turning 93 years old in September.  He lives alone in his home and refuses to  live in an assisted living for seniors so we make sure to visit every chance we can.  He recently fell and passed out but luckily my niece in law and her family was there to help him.  His head was bruised  and his fingers were swollen after  a day and then  a couple of days after his fall, his let eye turned red.  We encouraged him to go to the hospital to get checked but her refused. He hats hospital.
Hubby and I worries about him a lot because at his age, his bones  are brittle so  even a simple fall could really hurt him badly just like what happened.  At his age, he  realy craves for some company and we feel so bad that we can't be there every single day.  We asked him to live with us so I can take care of him since I am a stay at home Mom but he doesn't want to do that either.
Advance happy Father's day Dad and to my husband.  They are both loving Dads!
Below is a related article submitted by Ms.  Judy Cohen, the Outreach Coordinator at the American Recall Center.  You may visit the links for  additional info on how to help your senior love ones.

The American Recall Center created a graphic that outlines how to prevent the ones we love from taking a fall that may cause traumatic injuries. The most common injury induced from falls is a hip fracture that often leads to a hip replacement surgery. These surgeries are becoming more and more popular, but there are still risks associated with the many recent hip replacement recalls. Sadly, 25% of those who fracture a hip die within 6 months, making it increasingly more important to educate on the prevention of falls.

I encourage you to take charge of your health and educate the loved ones in your life on the importance of taking preventative action against slips and falls.

Doodle4Google Winner

The winning design of  Doodle4Google is displayed at Google homepage today (June 9).  The winner this year  is Audrey Zhang from  Island Trees Memorial Middle School, New York.
Daughter  was bummed out that she did not placed during the national round but it was a great experience for her.  We told her that it was her first try and she was very lucky that she was chosen as the state of West Virginia's winner.  Her goal of winning the  education grant for the school wasn't realized but she still have years to try it.
It was hard getting pictures of all of them as  there were so many parents who wants to take  pictures after the ceremony.
This photo was emailed to us by a Google representative.  Thank you!

This is Audrey Zhang's Doodles from last year and this year.  The theme is almost the same but this year's  was more defined and has a  lot of characters.   She was the New York's finalist  last year as well and this year, she bagged the  National prize.  Congratulations Audrey!
Here's Ms. Burrito with Audrey Zhang taken at Sheraton Hotel the night after the ceremony.  Ms. B. congratulated her so I took a shot of them.
You can watch the video below as she  helped the team of Doodlers from Google animates her  winning design.

Easter Egg Hunting

I know that this is very late but oh well "better late than never right"?  It was a chilly morning when some of the Madonna High School volunteers have organized an Easter Egg Hunt by the St. Joseph church.  We live very close so we just walked over there so the kids can have some fun.

It was  a breath of fresh air to  see the kids enjoy the outdoors even though it was chilly but with their  endless energy, they couldn't feel the  cool temperature as they chased each other and played.

The girls also set up some fun activities after the egg hunt like  craft project and face painting.
They also provide some drinks and cookies for the kids and adults.
I love the community where we live because we care for  each other.  Most people know everybody and they are very friendly.  Kids are trained in school  to be compassionate  and respectful individuals.

That's why even a good opportunity is knocking at our door, we can't easily move away from where we live now because the kids love it here.  We don't want to rob them a good environment to grow up with.

Happy Mother's day to all the Moms in the World!

I have been very stressed out lately due to some recent events that had happened to my family back home.  On instances like this, I wish that I could go somewhere where I can  relax for a while and not think about the problems.  Say  for example a weekend getaway at the beautiful  St. Kitts Marriott Resort & Royal Beach Casino, that would really be so nice.

I was looking at the St. Kitts Marriott Super Sand Dollars offer and it seems very appealing.  With the Super Sand Dollar offer, you get to stay four nights, and get three nights free!  Great deal isn't it?  I am always  fascinated by different  kinds of cuisine from different places, so I would love to   try their local delicacies.  Based from what I have read  at the website, they are surrounded by  so many restaurants so dining  is not a problem.  A relaxing afternoon at their spa would be a nice treat for my body.   I would even enjoy a  peaceful walk down the beach.
