Ocean City, July 2014

Seeing my children enjoyed the water in Ocean City reminds me of my childhood. I grew up in a coastal area so most of the times, kids swim in the ocean when it is calm and safe. Kids over there pretty much learn how to swim by themselves.  We don't have to go through swimming lessons because it is part of our survival living in the  coastal area.
I did not have  any fancy things growing up but I experienced fun things that my kids are not fortunate to have  living  in a modern world.  Simple living  to me is the bomb in learning  many things.
Gadgets did not exist in my childhood.  We did not even have a TV in our home but our childhood was  very normal.  We pretty much enjoy whatever is around us.
I am glad that although, we are  living  far from the ocean, we can afford to  go to one once in a while and let them experience the  joy of  things away from gadgets and stuff.
I am glad that my children enjoy even the simplest things like going on a creek and trying to catch cray fish.  You know just for experience.  A lot of kids are not interested anymore in doing those kind of activities.
Our son was fearless in the water.  He is not scared to go under the waves lol.
I miss the ocean ever since I came here but I am not really into  swimming in it.  I'd rather swim in the pool than in the ocean.
So yeah, our trip to Maryland was a fun-filled family trip that I hope my  children will always remember when  they grow up.
I hope that when I am gone and they somehow look through my blog posts and read them, that they would feel joy in their hearts.
We are not rich but we  d our best to  make our children's childhood worthwhile.  I think that is what matters the most.  I always tell them that  even though we can't afford a lot of things that they want, we love them!

11 Years Have Gone By

11 years have gone by but the pain remains.  How I wish that you are still with us.  11 years today when you suddenly left us but I know that things happened for a reason.  I hope that wherever you are, that you are free from pain and that you are looking over us especially Mama.  I hope that an angel will relay my message to you.  I lo]ve you  and I miss you very much Pa!

Choke Hold

Seeing the news about the guy  who died  because of the choke hold that the police have applied when he   resisted arrest scares me.  I have a lot of respect for the police because  they put their lives on the line  to protect  the people they serve.  Sometimes, accident like this happen.  I think that if the guy  have listened and did not resist the arrest, he could have still alive.  The police on the other hand,   should have listened when the guy was saying that he couldn't breath.

On the lighter note, let me share these random photos that I took  when we were at Oxcean City  a couple of weeks ago.
It's amazing  to see people are swimming already as early as 7  o'clock down there.

Father's Day 2014

On Father's Day this year, we started our day with a hearty meal that I prepared for my  husband.  We planned on spending the day to the Zoo so we got up early and got ready.
A simple family photo before we took off.  My son is always  making faces, it frustrates me sometimes because we can't get a good family family  picture most of the times.  Anyway, before we head out to the zoo, we visited my father-in-law first.  We got him a  new flag and a new razor for gifts.
He was very happy to see both because he   needed a new flag as his old one is all shredded up.  The last time we put a new flag  on his flag pole  was years ago, when my brother's in law was still alive.
I love it when I see these two so  loving with each other because nowadays, they love to pester each other lol.
My FIL is a very patriotic man so even if his  eye sight is  slowly deteriorating, he is very proud to fly a flag in his front yard.
I love this photo  when my daughter gave Dad a hug!
My husband   with Dad.
And the last shot, a family photo.
I will be posting our  Father's Day adventure at the zoo real soon!

Inspiring a Safe and Healthier Day-to-day Lifestyle for the Ones We LOVE!

Did you know that June is National Safety Month? During this month, a heavy focus is placed on preventing slips, trips, and falls. Falls are the second leading cause of accidental death. This really hits home for me because we faced a recent experience with my 93-year-old father in law.

My father in law is turning 93 years old in September.  He lives alone in his home and refuses to  live in an assisted living for seniors so we make sure to visit every chance we can.  He recently fell and passed out but luckily my niece in law and her family was there to help him.  His head was bruised  and his fingers were swollen after  a day and then  a couple of days after his fall, his let eye turned red.  We encouraged him to go to the hospital to get checked but her refused. He hats hospital.
Hubby and I worries about him a lot because at his age, his bones  are brittle so  even a simple fall could really hurt him badly just like what happened.  At his age, he  realy craves for some company and we feel so bad that we can't be there every single day.  We asked him to live with us so I can take care of him since I am a stay at home Mom but he doesn't want to do that either.
Advance happy Father's day Dad and to my husband.  They are both loving Dads!
Below is a related article submitted by Ms.  Judy Cohen, the Outreach Coordinator at the American Recall Center.  You may visit the links for  additional info on how to help your senior love ones.

The American Recall Center created a graphic that outlines how to prevent the ones we love from taking a fall that may cause traumatic injuries. The most common injury induced from falls is a hip fracture that often leads to a hip replacement surgery. These surgeries are becoming more and more popular, but there are still risks associated with the many recent hip replacement recalls. Sadly, 25% of those who fracture a hip die within 6 months, making it increasingly more important to educate on the prevention of falls.

I encourage you to take charge of your health and educate the loved ones in your life on the importance of taking preventative action against slips and falls.
