Sweet Rice

I made some sweet rice the other day and the kids and the hubs are pretty happy. They all have sweet tooth so they gotta have some sweets most of the time. To entice the kids even more, I decorated it with their favorite cereal, the fruit loops.

In the Mood to Cook

Before my husband left going to school this morning, I asked him what he wants for lunch. He asked me to make steak and some mashed potatoes but I bargain hahaha. I asked him to pick some filipino foods and he said he wants some adobo so that is waht I made. I was so busy today, as soon as hubby left I vacuumed the floor then when I got done, I started doing the laundry. While the laundry is going, I started cooking.
I promnised my friend Raquel who is concieving right now that I would cook another batch of bihon (rice noodles) because she is craving for it. so here it is Manay, I hope you like it. It's an honor that you are craving for my pancit maybe your baby will be a good cook like me hahaha, just kidding friends.
I called her to come up and get her share of pancit hehehe. I am glad I was able to do all those chores, now that I got done folding the clothes I can blog a little before I go to bed. Hubby's classes tomorrow are cancelled, yipppeee.

Stuffed & Grilled Squid

I took out the gut of the squid and stuffed it with chopped up onions and tomatoes. I put soy sauce and sprinkled it with black pepper. This was my first time doing this kind of menu, I am not even sure if there's a recipe like this hehehe. I just made it up and the result is awesome. Too bad my kabarangays are not fond of squid so I am the only one eating it. I freeze three of them, now I am down to one lol..

I found one jalapeño in the fridge so I cut it in half, removed its seeds, stuffed it with the salsa and then I put it inside the squid's tummy. I like it better than the one that does not have jalapeño.

I put foil on top of the grill so it won't burn easy.

Oh after you stuffed the squid, make sure to put tooth pick to it so the stuffing wont come out.

Try it guys, it is soooo good!

My new creation, grilled stuffed squid! Happy Yummy Sunday!

Hey guys, I would like to invite you to please vote for my daughter's smile. You can find the link on my side bar.. thanks a lot!

Green Beans Adobo

I made adobong sitaw (green beans) yesterday. My cute helpers wanted to help me but I was in a hurry to cook so I just let them clean the dishes.

See how deligent worker they are lol..

I just wish that they would still do it when they grow up hehehe.

You might ask why the amount of the food I cook is very little, I do that so we could eat whatever I cook. I get tired of putting left over in the refrigerator hehehe. The recipe calls for string beans but since we don't have that here, i just use the regular green beans. The main method in preparing or cooking this is trough sautee. You have to sautee garlic, onion, tomatoes and meat first then put some soy sauce and a little black pepper. Then when the meat is tender, you can put the green beans. I want the beans a little crunchy so I don't over cook it.

My son said "I wan't to help Mom" so I let him stir the grean beans adobo, that's what makes it very tasty, the love and willingness to help of my lil' chef.

Tip: Put a dash of honey into your adobo to give it an interesting twist. It tasted so good and my hubsnad loved it!

Alrighty, for those left over hunters, sorry there's none lol..

Memorial island Hopping #2

During our first night at Jeju Island, we went out and ate dinner at a Korean restaurant. We ate Kalbi (not sure how they call it) but it was good. They gave us a big platter of thinly sliced pork marinated with some sauce together with veggies. Then we boiled the sauce and cooked the veggies and meat in three minutes. We ate it with rice, it was delish!
Here's the korean name of the restaurant hehehe. The ambiance was nice too. We cooked it in front of us, on top of our table.

Bulgogi Bibimbap

My husband told me last Sunday after we ate our favorite Korean dish "We should start making our own Bibimbap, since we like it so much." I said "okay." Well the other day, our Filipino neighbor called me up on the phone and asked me if we like Bibimbap. "Very much," I said. So she made and gave us two bowls, she said that her husband don't like it so she's the only one who eat it. It was actually pretty good, it tasted just like the real Korean Bibimbap. She made a lot so she gave me some. Thanks ate Lelet, you're the best chef around!
The title is Bulgogi Bibimbap because this one that she made has meat on it. The one we always eat in town do not have meat. So do you guys have a neighbor like mine?

City Garden - Mabini

We stayed at the City Garden for a day for us to rest while waiting for our flight going to Korea. We love this hotel because their customer service is excellent. We got tricked by the taxi driver and travel agency about going to other hotel when we first arrived in the Phils. I tell you guys about it later. Anyhow, we had a room service for choices of city garden club and pancit canton and corn soup. We decided to just eat inside the hotel instead of going around because it's too hot in there.

Added sweetness

It's the first day of the hearts' month and love is in the air. So I added a little bit of sweetness to our dining table, I stumbled upon a recipe of sweet and sour pork while I was bloghopping yesterday and I prepared it today. Below is the recipe. Sweet and sour pork with pork loin and pineapple, along with seasonings. Cook Time: 1 hour, 20 minutes Ingredients: · 1 1/2 pounds boneless pork loin, sliced 1/2-inch thick · 1 tablespoons vegetable oil · 1 can (20 ounces) pineapple chunks in juice · 3/4 cup water · 1/4 cup vinegar · 1 tablespoon soy sauce · 1/4 cup brown sugar · 1/2 teaspoon salt · 2 tablespoons cornstarch · 2 tablespoons water · 1/2 cup thinly sliced onion · 1 green pepper, cut in thin strips · 2 cups hot cooked rice Preparation: Cut pork slices into strips about 3 inches long and 1/2 to 1 inch wide. Sauté pork strips in hot oil over medium heat until lightly browned; drain. Drain pineapple; reserve juice. Combine pineapple juice, 3/4 cup water, vinegar, soy sauce, brown sugar, and salt; pour over pork in skillet. Cover and simmer 1 hour, or until meat is tender. In a cup, combine cornstarch and 2 tablespoons water; stir until smooth. Add cornstarch mixture to pork mixture. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until mixture is thickened and bubbly. Add pineapple chunks, onion and green pepper. Cover and simmer sweet and sour pork for 10 minutes longer, or until vegetables are tender. Serve sweet and sour pork over rice. Sweet and sour pork recipe serves 4 to 6.

menudo for lunch

It's been a while since I made menudo that's why when I asked my husband if what does he want for lunch, he said "menudo" so that's what me and my daughter cooked today. I am happy that he chose menudo because I like it more than caldereta. He said that when he was stationed in the Philippines years ago, he's favorite food are caldereta, menudo and giniling... Good thing I have learned how to make them... at least in my own way of cooking hehehe.. I forgot to take a snapshot of the finish product hehehe..

Tocino

I cooked a pack of pork tocino this morning and it was sooooooooo good... I prefer tocino more than longanisa because I don't like the salty taste in the latter hehehe. John like tocino too but he prefer longanisa more than the other. We compliment each other when it comes to things. We're kind of Ying and Yang hehehe.. That is why, I don't have any problem with him with things.

Spanish Rice with Tortang Talong

I prepared Spanish rice and tortang talong (eggplant omelet) yesterday for our dinner. My husband love tortang talong so much. Our kids likes it too. i cooked the tortang talong without any other kind of veggies this time. Whenever I make it, I always put tomatoes, onions, and some bacon tidbits and egg on it. But this time, I used Italian bread crumbs instead, it was still good even though there's no tomatoes and stuff.

fries and nuggets

Last night was one of those nights where I am not in the mood to cook, so hubby took turns and just made some fries and chicken nuggets. That's what we don once in a while. I know that french fries aren't healthy but I guess if you eat it in moderation, its not bad at all (defensive hahaha)..
