Fil-Am

The theme for this week at Mommy Moment is "Filipino Ako" or "I am a Filipino". I was born and raised in the Philippines and still a citizen of the country. That would make my kids Filipino-Americans or Fil-Am as they commonly call kids that are half Filipino and half American.  Thanks to Tita Dhemz for the cowboy hats!

My kids knows   some Filipino words but they can't really speak the language  well.  

They were born here in the US of A but  they  still have the Filipinos in them, for one is   the fact that they love RICE hehehe.  They also love  singing some  Filipino folk song such as Leron Leron Sinta.  This is one of the videos that Ms. Burrito posted on her blog.

Oh, I must be losing my mind.  I visited the author of the meme  thinking that it is now Thursday hahaha.  Oh boy!  Oh well, early birds catches the worm right? Lol!  Have a good night everyone.

Shopping at Toys "R" Us

As kids, their favorite part in shopping is going to a toy area or a toy store.  My FIL gave Ms. Burrito a cash gift  for her birthday and she asked us if she could buy  the thing she wants.  We usually  save  their money to their bank account but this time we let her shop at Toys "R" Us.

You can see the excitement and enthusiasm as they  rush to the  store.

She couldn't decide what she will get because everything that she sees, she wants to buy it.

At the end we helped her decide what to get by weighing the benefits of the product that she  will buy.  She  bought the  easy bake package.

Mr. Burrito on the other hand  was so fascinated with the   train track that was laid out in the store.  Kids can play with the toys.

He spent most of the time  playing there while  we waited for Ms. Burrito to get done.

When we were checking out, he grabbed a  train set for him wahhh.. Sneaky.  He grabbed two but I put away one because he already have  a lot of trans at home.

I also bought  the ocean book for them and two sets of board games.

Being a Mom

Motherhood is the most rewarding career. For me, nothing can top the feeling of becoming a Mom, even the most expensive stone on earth couldn't pay the joy that a mother has.

Simple messages and notes  that comes from your children always makes you feel like you are th most richest person in the world.

Some might disagree with what I have stated above but it's just my own opinion, I will respect yours.

Motherhood is like using barcode labels because you use different strategy for different occasions.

Dear Daddy - Thank You!

Dearest Dad,

First of all, thank you for the love that you have for us.  

No matter how we upset or give you headaches, you still love us.  

Thank you for being  a doctor to us when we are sick, 

for being the big kid when we want to play, 

for being a dancer when we want to dance,

Dear Burritos,

You know, when mommy turned 30 already and still  single, Mommy thought that she will never  experience the joy of being a Mom.  Until one day, a courageous  navy guy entered Mommy's life,  that's Daddy.  Mommy and Daddy got married and  tried for  over a year before their first bundle of joy finally arrived, and that's you Ms. Burrito.  Nine Months later, Mr. Burrito decided to join the clan.  From then on, Mommy and Daddy's life  got so busy but everyday is  a precious moment to treasure.  We hope that when both Mom and Dad are gone,. you will remember  how they love you both so much.

Achievements of our Burritos

Ms. Burrito did not have classes today so we used the art stuff that my husband bought the other day.  Both of these burritos love  doing art stuff so we always have   materials like these ready at home  especially on winter when they are stuck inside the house.

The theme or topic this week at Mommy Moment is new achievement.  As for Ms. Burrito, she knows how to read now (not the very long word though) but she can read books in sentences  with simple words or short words.  She can also  count by five  up to a hundred.  Teaching Ms. Burrito is not so hard but it's the contrary to Mr. B.

With Mr. Burrito, it is hard for him to really focus on  what I am teaching him,.  He just want to be goofy all the time which frustrates me.  Doing arts is what he likes  plus he can recite   the alphabet (not complete lol).  He is becoming more independent though, he can now use the bathroom without our help.  He does however love reading time.

Something New

Good morning folks! I am quite busy right now due to some preparation for Mr. Burrito's birthday tomorrow but I missed several topics already at Mommy Moments already so I am squeezing this one out even though I'm late.  Anyhow, the topic this week is about "New Stuff".

The kids  got a lot of stuff from friends and family but here are some of their favorites.  A notebook  given by Tita Chris (thanks Tita) and the kitchen set that "Santa" gave  Ms. Burrito.

Hubby  bought us a new gadget, a magic sing karaoke set.  He  got a new iPad from his school.

And Mr. Burrito got lots of cars and other accessories and  Santa gave him a race track.  Daddy and sissy enjoys it more though lol.

Christmas Tree ... Then and Now

I grew up dirt poor but our Christmas tree then was always new. You know why? Because we just chop it off from the woods. We call it salago, it's a type of tree where you can easily peel off the skin. Then we would wrap the branches with the foil from the cigarette to make it look a little fancier.  Then we would put small rocks on  candy wrappers and hang it in the tree.  That's what  our Christmas tree   was back then, it's a made up one lol.  We  did not have  ham in the table or gifts under the tree but  we were happy because we  were complete  as a family.  Of course as a child, I was wishing for  toys too.  So even as a child I know that Santa Claus don't exist hahaha.

Anyhow, sorry for being nostalgic here lol. Below is our tree last year.  We bought this during our first Christmas in our  new home so we had this  white tree for four years.  Hubby wanted a real  tree this year but I talked him out of it.. Hirap kaya linisin nun noh, the leaves  fall off  kasi so you have to constantly clean under the tree although I agree that it smells good.

We put up that white tree at Dad's home this year and we bought the one below for us.  The kids love our new tree because it rotates which is kind of cool for them.  You may check  out here when the kids help me out decorating it or you could watch the video below..

It comes in all Shapes

Happiness to children comes in all shapes and sizes. It could be just a teeny weeny thing and yet it makes them crack up.  I don't believe in giving everything to a child will make them happy.  Even though you fill their room with expensive toys,  they won't be totally happy because they still need our TLC.  TLC comes in  different  measures too, some give  a lot and some just a little.

You can  see the happiness of the children in their eyes, their smiles and the way they interact with people.  They are real because they don't   lie when it comes to expressing how they feel.  So let's give our children a lotta love everyday, they will remember it for the rest of their lives.  It might not matter to you but spending a lot of time with them  matters  and   bring a huge impact to their development. 

Partners in Crime . then and now.

The first photo was taken before we went to Korea, they both want to climb on this corner piece but they got reprimanded hehehe. The second photo was when we were in Korea, they both love to color.

The theme this week at Mommy Moments is Before and After. I actually had a little bit of hard time choosing which I should share hehehe. I came up with the partners in crime, then and now. Well, they certainly love each other, love to hug each other, love to torture/pick on each other, and sometimes love to do things together.  Now that they are growing up and has each own preferences, most of the time they  argue with each other wahhhh.

Hair Styles

One of the things that me and my daughter disagree  sometimes is combing/brushing her hair. She is very sensitive that she always think, I am pulling her hair out whenever I brushed it. One time I asked her if she wants a short hair so I won't have to deal with crying every time I brush her hair and she said she want it long. She absolutely get that from me because when I was a kid, I always want my hair long and one time mama hire someone to cut my hair very short, I cried for days lol.  The only difference of me and Rye is that I don't ask my mother to comb it for me, I id it alone.

Anyhow, here are some hair styles that I always do to her hair.  Messy pig tails, braiding it, tie the entire hair into one, or just tie half of it.

I love it when my son's hair is short like this.

I always have a long hair ever since.  I only cut it short once as advised by the priests when I was in college.  They told me that I am so skinny with long hair and that it makes me look so mature.  But when I met hubs, he likes long hair so I grew it back lol.

Hubby love his hair like this but I love it when he cut it very short, very masculine ang dating hehehe.

Who wouldn't love kisses?
