Our two bunnies (Wubzy and Matilda), love to eat dandelions. Since there are so many in our neighborhood, my kids and I always picked some when we go for a walk or coming home from school.
These two gets so excited whenever they see these flowers. It is like a sweet treats to them.
If Ms. Burrito is serious in picking flowers, the other one is seriously spreading out the dandelions wahhh. He would always "Make a wish!"
I read an article about dandelions or the Traxacum Officinale and found out that as pesky as it is these weeds to some people, the herbalists consider it as a valuable herb in treating some health condition like liver problems, skin problems, heartburn and more. It said on the article that Dandelions are rich in Vitamins A, B complex, C, and D and minerals such as Potassium, zinc, and iron. It is interesting to note that dandelions can be used as an added flavor to salads, sandwiches and tea. The roots are used in some coffee substitutes and the flowers are used to make wines.
ang cute ni mr. burritos! hihi.. love the smiles and how he blew the dandelions. :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice treat your daughter gets for the bunnies! We used to like to spread the seeds as children too. Mr.Burrito looks quite proud of himself. ha ha! Lastly, my Great-great Uncle Ray used to make dandelion wine. Never tasted it as I was too young. Happy SSS.
ReplyDeleteAwww, what cute bunnies! Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteYummy! If I were a rabbit, I'd be eating those golden blossoms too!

How sweet that the girls collect dandelions for the bunnies to eat! I'd be doing what Mr. Burrito is doing, though. I still love to see those things take flight when I blow on them.
ReplyDeleteThey are adorable little munchkins, sugar!

Cute, cute bunnies. I always liked to make a wish too. :)
ReplyDeleteTuTu Cute! Little girls and bunnies ... my favorite.
ReplyDeleteThey say everything is considered a "weed" somewhere! I used to buy creeping jenny as a house plant. My mother-in-law came to visit from Minnesota and couldn't get over it ... said it was a weed in Minn. LOL.
Thanks for dropping in for a visit ... hope to "see" you again soon.
Blessings, L
Those black and white bunnies are cute!
ReplyDeleteI saw a recipe a few weeks ago for Dandelion Bread. I personally love seeing dandelions growing the yard. I know some people hate them though.
ReplyDeleteWe have a special spot in our garden to grown lettuce just for our bunnies :)

It is true, those (guys mostly) that want that perfect lawn free of dandelions. Since we do not have a perfectly manicured lawn, these may be weeds - but the yellow flower has the look of brilliant sunshine on the grass. And since the bunnies love these, this is a weed that is beautiful in so many ways!
ReplyDeleteI never knew dandelions are that multifaceted as far as vitamin and medicinal contents are concerned. Maybe the bunnies know more about them than us, hehehe. Thanks for the informative post. God bless you all always.
ReplyDeleteIf it is true, pick na? Dalian mo systah!!! Baka yumaman tayong dalawa if we gather bunches of this dandelions. Charr...
ReplyDeleteHapy SSS,

Oh yes, young dandelion leaves are considered a very healthy part of a vegetarian salad.

Send those bunnies over to our yard too! We have lots of dandelions!
ReplyDeleteAnd, yes, they do have a lot of great qualities (and some folks make wine from it). But, if you do plan to consume them, don't use the ones grown in yards and parks as they are most likely full of pesticides. Create a planter for them and grow your own organic dandelions.
Loved this post on dandelions. And yep, you can eat them in salads. They are good for so many things and yet we cut the ones in our yard right down and they are considered weeds. HPS
ReplyDeleteThe children are just so precious and I loved seeing them spreading the dandelion joy all around with their breath:-)
ReplyDeleteI really like the perspective of the last shot . It is a real eye-catcher. genie
HPS!
ReplyDeleteThose bunnies are lovely!

I would like to try making dandelion wine, but I don't have the patience to pick that many flowers. :-) Too bad I couldn't hire your kids. My little got kid has been having fun eating dandelions too.
ReplyDeleteWhat sweet critters!
ReplyDeleteToo cute! I have a bunch I can send you!! LOL
ReplyDeleteI love your header of Hollywood Studios!!
ReplyDeleteI bet the rabbits really liked their dandelion treats. i have heard of people making wine with them, but didn't know that they had other health benefits. Interesting. My hubby hates when they grow in our yard. He breaks out the weed killer and sprays each one to stop them from growing. They really don't bother me at all.
Very informative post. Enjoyed seeing your captures.
ReplyDeleteGreat photos of both the kids and the bunnies! I had a roommate in college who would pick dandelions and make tea for all of us. :-) Hope you have a great weekend!
