Scholastic Book Fair

Before the Spring break, the school where my Burritos goes hosted their Annual Book Fair, partnering with Scholastic.  I like the slogan  of Scholastic which  says "Read Everyday, Lead a Better Life".  Parents  were invited to come to  help the little ones in picking the books that they want to buy.  I only gave my kids $10 each but I ended up paying $50 more for both of them which I don't mind because I like books myself.  I prefer to buy them books over toys.

As expected, Mr. Burrito chose  a book about Hot Wheels.  He said that it would help him familiarize of his collection so I was convinced and bought it for him.  Ms. Burrito on the other hand, got two science books and an animal book.  Her teacher was surprised that she chose those books as those  are for higher graders.  I wasn't surprise at all as I know that she loves anything about Science  she takes that from my husband who also love Science.

I know that I am very hard on my kids sometimes but you know, I don't regret it because I know along the way, they would learn the things they need to.  I am the disciplinarian  at home, my husband is a happy go lucky guy  who is always my kids best friend.  I think, I got my father's way of raising us when we were kids.

My son  complains sometimes when I let him sit and read but  it paid off as he  was awarded  for an outstanding  reading ability.  Since then, he is inspired to read  everyday without me telling him.

For the fun part, here's my Burritos  being goof balls, literally as she put the ball inside her  dress lol.

Old Gem

My father-in-law always address himself as an "old fart" but I always think of him as an "old gem" for his wits and wisdom. He is a very loving   man who exudes  care for everyone.  He told me once that he wants to live   his last few years  of life like Jesus, that no matter how bad a person is, he still  like  them because there is an inner good in them.  I felt bad  when we visited him yesterday  because he told me that I should call him everyday because he gets lonely and bored at home.  Hubby and I offered him to  live with us  but he doesn't want to be a burden to anyone which I don't think would be a case anyway.

He wants us to visit his two sisters this summer so we told him that  we  can go  at the end of May when the kids are off from school already.  We want to take the opportunity of taking him  because it's very rare that he wants to go somewhere.

 Oh it is so nice to  be able to enjoy the outdoor activities once again.    I felt like the winter stayed so long.  We've got some warm days for the last few days but now it is cool again, in fact  we will have some frost tonight, according to the weather channel.

Festival of Nations

Last Saturday was the Festival of Nation celebration here in Weirton.  We did not get to go until  NooN because our daughter had an Experience day in school that morning..  We missed an hour of  action at the Community Center.

We did not get to see the performances of the Filipino Dance Troupe as they  have performed earlier.

After an hour of  wandering and looking at traditional stuff displayed at the Center, we went home.  There are ITalian and Indian Foods being sold at the food booths.

The Croods Movie, Fox's Den Pizza, and More

We watched the movie "The Croods" last Friday.  It was an animated avatar packed with action and hilarious  scenarios.  I definitely recommend this  movie to watch for the whole family.  From the start to finish, it was hilarious and lots of lesson to learn.  The voices of the stars featured Emma Stone, Nicolas Cage, and Ryan Reynolds.

After we  got out from the movie theater, we  dropped by at the nearby pizza house and redeemed the free pizza coupon they sent us.  While waiting for our order,  the Burritos colored some arts  given by the crew and  I snapped these shots using my SG phone.

On the other note, I am glad that Spring has finally  come  at our end and that my kids are now free from any sickness.  Below is the snap shots I took of my daughter after they came home from the hospital during her last  test regarding  the  infection.  Showing her medical bondage and  bracelet.
