locked up

"Hon, she's ready for the Lord's prayer", my husband told me last night. So after I nursed my son, I put him in our master's bedroom thinking that hubby was in the bathroom. I went to my daughter's bedroom and led her the prayer. When we got done, I checked on my son and the door was locked. He managed to push the door lock but he can't twist it. So I called my husband thinking that he was there with our son. But hubby wasn't there, he was in the living room. So I told him what EJ did and we tried his keys but it did not worked. Holy crap, my key to the our master's bedroom was in my purse inside the room. We tried and tried to open it with hubby's keys but nothing happened. So hubby went outside and checked if he could get in the bathroom's window but it was locked. He called the security so we could get the key from the housing. Our son was already freaking out because he realized that he's stuck in there. I felt horrible because I can't do anything to calm him down. I was sticking my fingers at the bottom of the door to let him know I was there, but he kept on crying. Finally hubby, checked on the window in our bedroom and he found out that it wasn't lock so he popped out the screen and luckily opened it. That's when the securities arrived too. I felt relief and so happy that hugged my son so tight and kissed him. Now we learned our lesson, never to leave him alone in the room, we also put the bedroom key outside where we could easily get it just in case the same thing happen again.. Thanks God! Here's EJ's messy face, sooooo ornery!

golden green

We went to the store yesterday to get some additional stuff we need for the thanksgiving. Hubby paid it and he was shocked with the amount. We only got a couple of items and the total of the grocery was enormous. He told me about it when we were driving home already. So I immediately ask for the receipt and review it and BINGO, the picture below was the cause.
We only got one piece of bell pepper and it cost us 64.40, holly molly! So hubby went back right away at the store and clarify the things. The cashier told him that he also did the right code, weight and stuff and he himself don't understand why it did it lol. But anyhow, we got our money back hehehe.. What's the lesson? Always examine your receipt for discrepancies!

Pasko Na (It's Christmas Time)

My husband took our kids for a drive the other night and they saw some houses with Christmas decorations put up already. So my daughter bugged me yesterday to set out our Christmas decor too. In the States, they don't really put up decorations until after Thanksgiving day. In the Philippines however, decorations starts to show up when the B-E-R months start. Yes, as early as September, you would be able to feel that Christmas is in the air because of the Christmas decorations. Here are some of the pics we took yesterday!
Here's my helper, busy decorating the tree!
Instead of gifts, she wants to put all her xmas stuffed toys hehehe..
When my son woke up from nap, he wanted to mess up everything lol...
That's what we accomplished yesterday, we are continuing the dcoration today...

thanksgiving plan

Me and hubby decided to have a little get together for the
Thanksgiving day. We invited some friends to come over our house ad share a feast with us. This will be our first time celebrating the occasion away from our love ones. Hubby is taking charge of preparing the turkey and ham, I'll make some filipino dish and some dessert. We bought a frozen pumpkin pie to bake because I don't know how to make one hehehe.. I hope that we can pull this together good. Wish us luck!

mascot fun

This picture was taken during our mountain hike at Mt. Seorak last month. The mascot actually encouraged or invited us to take a picture with him. My daughter was scared so she wasn't in the picture. My son however, liked it hehehe. This one here was taken when we tried to go out in town (still in Seorak trip) to try a Korean resto but unfortunately we did not succeed in communication with the locals so we just a took a picture for a remembrance.

Christmas For Payatas

I am so touched to know that there are organizations who are raising up some amount in order to give the children and other residents of Payatas, Philippines a chance to actually have a decent Christmas celebration. This act of kindness is dubbed as "Christmas For Payatas". I cried when I watched this video from youtube that I posted here. This is a charity appeal to all of you out there who are willing to help raise some money to make these children happy this holiday season. Please read the Press Release for more information and don't forget to watch the video. Press Release: The landfill in Payatas, The Philippines, is notoriously known the world over as Smokey Mountain. For over 35 years, the smoking dump site has grown to become a stark and heart-tugging reminder of the desperate onditions of humanity. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ On a daily basis, children pick through newly arrived garbage to collect material to sell. The earnings made by one child are not enough to even buy food for the day. Hence, entire families are forced to climb the mountain each day, hoping to earn enough to feed everyone. Children as young as four years old are forced to work in this daily struggle for survival. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ In response to the plight of these children, Totedaddy.com is working with Lighthouse Center For Children Foundation to bring a little cheer to the children this Christmas. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Totedaddy.com has kicked off with a cash sponsorship of USD 10,000 to enable the children to celebrate Christmas. FusionExcel International has also pitched in a USD 5,000 in cash sponsorship. The money raised will help fund the projects already in place, and help fund additional projects aimed at providing better housing, and a means of livelihood for the Payatas community. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ It is hoped that by creating better awareness to the plight of these children, more support can be garnered towards their betterment. Together we can bury poverty!

Farewell

Do you know this gorgeous girl from Dancing with the Stars? Yes, she is the two time winner of the famous competition. She said that she isn't going to compete anymore in the next season (Spring) which is about to start in early March next year. She said that she will concentrate on her music career instead. Well, good luck Julianne Hough! I think you will succeed to whatever career you choose because you are beautiful and talented...
Aside from her, my favorite one is Cheryl Berck. How about you, who is your fave among the stars?

Roller Coaster ride

In society today, we are so concerned about where we are going and how fast can we get there...but life isn't about the destination, it's about the journey. The things we learn from and leave behind on our journey through life is what truly matters. If you're a good person and you always try to do the right thing, the destination will be the same no matter how quickly you get there. Slow down and enjoy everything that God has provided. Here today and gone tomorrow.....never take for granted that things will always be. Appreciate the beauty in everything you see, hear, taste, and feel. Time is priceless and we shouldn't depreciate the value by trying to hurry things along.

Hugis Puso (Heart Shaped)

My husband took this picture of the tree last year, with me as a back ground hahaha. The tree was at the back of my Father in law's house. it's neat how he trimmed it. It looks good during winter because of the snow.

Mind your own!

This is true! Think about it, if you will let other people's opinion rule your life, you won't be able to attain anything. You are the master of your own destiny, so what others think about you is not really your business.

Wonder Woman

I received this tag from a wonder woman MOM Ate Cecille, thanks ate for considering me as one...
A lot of my colleagues and friends used to asked how I managed to finish my degree without the aid of my parents. My answer is Perseverance and Resiliency. If you set your mind in achieving your goals in life, you would be able to realize it. As long as you believe in yourself and you have faith in God, anything is possible. Now that I have two kids, their question is how do you survive being a Mom? It's a natural thing for Moms isn't it? No matter how hard it is, we would be able to pull it through because we love our children. That makes us a Wonder Woman!
Passing this tag to the Females I know who make wonders in their own little way!
Ate Weng, Dhemz, Niko, Umma, Malou, Faye, Nanay Belen, Mommy Merlyn, Joanna, Anna, Leslie, Gem, Iceah, Pchi, and all the wonder Mommies in the blog sphere!

Attention SHOPAHOLICS!

As a mom of two toddlers, I find it difficult to go to shopping malls and department stores during the colder months of the year. Getting myself and the kids bundled up to go out in the weather and battle the elements isn't really worth the risk of finding a good deal on an item. During the cold and flu season, you have to be extra careful in public places and it just isn't worth the risk. So my solution to that is shopping online.

The advantage of online shopping is that you have the capacity to browse all the merchants by going to their websites and compare prices. But this time around, I discovered an online webbiestore that has the list of all the sale items from different store. Pretty cool eh? Shopwiki.com is a one stop shop for everything that you're looking for. You can find huge selection of products from different stores, this means the more product available, the more savings you can get right? I love to cook and kitchen gadgets are always my prospected product to buy.

Hubby and daughter love baking so our mixer is always being used. Now its getting worn out and I am planning to get them a new stand mixer for their baking spree. I also would like to purchase a new blender for my daughter because she love making a milkshake with her dad.

Tinolang Manok

My theme for this week's post is food, so here I am again posting what I made for lunch yesterday lol. This is called Tinolang Manok (Chicken Tinola) in the Philippines. We don't have papaya here so I used sayote (Papaya squash) as substitute. I wasn't able to buy spinach in the store but it still tasted good. Spinach is the best replacement for the pepper leaves which we usually used in cooking in my country. Here's my plate with my favorite appetizer.... hot chili peppers.. dyarannnnnnn...
No left over this time, sarap kasi hehehe...

Food Exploration

We tried our luck yesterday in food hunting outside the base without a Korean with us. We went to Home Plus and had our lunch to the food court there. As I was ordering, I told the cashier that I wanted the number 11 combo of different foodie. She told me something in Korean but I did not understand her so I pointed her the combo that I want. The problem was the drink, I did not order some because I don't know what to say lol.. But anyhow, we got drinks from the other side of the food court where hubby bought the kids foods.. Here are some snaps..
looks different but they're good.. We don't even know the names of the food. There's noodles with mushy toppings, sweetened pork with veggies, fried rice with toppings too, stir fired chicken with veggies, kimchee, spicy seafood soup with noodles, cloeslaw with dumplings and pickled raddish that you eat after to freshen the breath.
Here's Rylie pre-testing her corn salad or slaw.. Hmmmnnn, am not sure about his... she also had calamris and fries. EJ love the fried rice and calamaris.. We like it so far, the spicy food made me sweat lol....After eating we let the kids played at the children play area of the mall.. We had a good day yesterday but I worked from 5-10 pm when I arrived my husband was called to report to work too and he stayed there until 1:30 (that's two nights in a row)... my poor hubby... Oh well, that's part of life.. So that's why, I wasn't able to reciprocate your visit friends.. sowi about that... I'll make it up to you promise!

Happy Veteran's Day

Today, we commemorated the braveness of our forefathers who fought the invaders in order to liberate our country from conquerors and such. I am specially dedicating this post to my late grandfather who served the American Troupe in the Philippines against the Japs and to my father in law who served during the WW2...

I worked from 12-7 pm today so we decided to just buy some chicken for our dinner at the BBQ Chicken out in town....Their chicken is awesome.. Hmmmnnn so tender and yummmmmmmy!

Today is also a Korean Holiday called Pepero Day (I'm not sure if I spelled it right). But anyhow, they said that this is their version of the white holiday in Japan. Our Korean friend told us that during Pepero day, the boyfriend gives gift to his girlfriend and during Valentines day, the girlfriend is the one to give a gift to her boyfriend.. Interesting eh?
